Spanish champion, cup winner and the semi -finals of the Champions League: It is an almost flawless season for FC Barcelona and coach Hansi Flick. He already looks at the new season and makes a clear announcement: “I want more titles.”
The 2: 3 against Villareal was the first defeat for FC Barcelona in the Spanish league in this calendar year. However, the Catalans will not disturb this, they had already had the Laliga title in their pocket with victories against the title rival Real Madrid and the city derby against Espanyol a week later.
Accordingly, Barca’s coach Hansi Flick looked at the upcoming season and wants to be even more successful there than in this: “I want more titles.” He got the double from league and cup this season – so only the Henkelpott of the Champions League is missing.
FC Barcelona: Flick practices self -criticism
“We recognized the potential of the team and the players quickly adapted to my football style. They were both football and human professional,” said Flick. “With the ball they were incredibly good and knew how to position themselves. Everything is possible with self -confidence.”
Flick then mixes self -criticism for his praise for his players. He too can and must continue to improve. “I have to learn to stay calmer during the 90 minutes,” said the former DFB coach.
His current contract runs another season – an extension would be anything but a surprise in the current successes. In his 59 games for FC Barcelona so far, Flick won 43 victories with the team. “I feel very comfortable here,” the coach indicated a possible extension.
In addition to the sporting success, FC Barcelona fans are a decisive reason for the successful feel -good atmosphere among the Catalans: “Throughout the season I felt the connection between the fans and my players. Our games, our victories and our performance have strengthened this cohesion, which also became clear away.”
