The dream of the title defense continues for SC Magdeburg. In the top game against Hannover-Burgdorf, the green-red grabbed the eighth victory in a row-and already announced the contract extension of Omar Ingi Magnusson before starting.

The team of coach Bennet Wiegert defeated the “stretching” on Monday evening (May 19) after a convincing performance with 34:28 (17:13) and thus keeps the pressure on the foxes Berlin and the MT Melsungen. The top duo also performed its tasks in parallel and is also three points ahead of the SCM. The green-reds still have a game in the hindquarters.

Wiegert then commented more than satisfied with the performance of his team: “It was a tight game, but we performed dominant for over 60 minutes.” Keeper Sergey Hernandez received a special praise, which once again outlined with 16 parades. “Outstanding,” praised his goalkeeper: “He helps us enormously and gives us security.” In addition to the Spaniard, Gisli Kristjansson triumphed with eight goals.

Jubilation over Magnusson extension

Jubilee opened in the Magdeburg Getec-Arena before the start, after the contract extension with Torgarr Omar Ingi Magnusson was announced. The Icelander, at the SCM since 2020, signed a new working paper by 2028. After a little more than two minutes, it was already 3-0 before the guests slowly but surely clapped.

Omar Ingi Magnusson only extended his contract with the SCM and then contributed to the convincing appearance against Hannover-Burgdorf with seven goals.

Change pool of feelings for the SCM

Magdeburg took the foot from the accelerator pedal, made some unfocused actions in the attack and also struggled with controversial referee decisions. After eight minutes, the guests had suddenly shot the game (5: 4).

Then followed four furious minutes in which Kristjansson played big. The Icelander hit the left side three times and brought his team back into the lead thanks to a 6-2 run (10: 7). Until the break, the SCM kept up the number of strikes, hit the offensive reliably and was able to rely on Hernandez, which showed nine parades in the first 30 minutes and made the “stretching” particularly despair from the seven -meter line.

SCM doesn’t let anything burn

The same picture at the beginning of the second half: Magdeburg finished his attacks concentrated and also benefited from a double overnight number. Because Hernandez also felt every second ball, the lead grew to six goals up to the 35th minute (20:14). Hanover struggled to the hard time, always made the connection, but the SCM had the perfect answer to almost every action.

Sergey Hernandez defused numerous litters and could hardly be conquered from the seven -meter line.

Nevertheless, the guests did not give up and kept the game exciting until the final phase. Thanks to a 3-0 run, the Magdeburg lead melted on two hits (28:26). In the majority, the SCM pulled the game back to its side. Kristjansson and Albin Lagergren expanded the lead to four hits again before Antonio Serradilla hit the empty goal after a slight Hannoverian ball loss and also removed the last doubts about the eighth victory in a row.
