A closed door, that is suddenly the only thing that Hotel-Cafe ‘t Zwanemeer has to offer in Gieten. From one day to the next, all activity seems to be a thing of the past.
The owner of the building and the manager have been in conflict with each other about the state of the building for a while. But paying hotel guests are the victims and how do they get their money back?
Several people who would spend the night there let us know through a review website that they can no longer reach the hotel. A few received an e-mail with the message that the booking was canceled, others heard nothing at all. One of the complainers said on Google Reviews that no contact can be made with the hotel in any way: “They have disappeared from the earth.”
There are nevertheless several ways to get your money back. Lawyer Ming Lazy of Legal Aid Lawyers in Assen knows all about that. “It depends on how you booked the hotel room,” she says. “For example, if you have arranged a room via the booking.com site, you must approach that organization and you may get money back.” Even when you have used a credit card during payment, there is a good chance that you can get your money back through your bank.
It becomes more difficult when, for example, you have paid with iDeal. “You must then submit a claim to the hotel,” explains Lui. “The hotel has offered a service and as a guest you can ask for compliance with the contract, if that is not possible or if you do not get any response, you can engage a lawyer.”
