At the finish in San Sebastian, Volling took the lead after 112 kilometers with just under a minute. In the battle for second place, Ghekiere drove away with the Canadian Sarah van Dam in the final phase. The latter became second, Ghekiere third. In the final classification, the West-Flemish ended in fourth place, at 1:03 of Volling.
