A striking move: René van der Gijp gets his own stage on Veronica, at the request of the Great John de Mol. Is that not surprising, next today inside? “It doesn’t bite each other,” it sounds.

To save his marriage, René van der Gijp went back this year to a four -day working week at Inside today. He is free every Wednesday and then Albert Verlinde is in his place. What has not changed is the weekly frequency of his podcast with Rob Jansen, Wim Kieft and Michel van Egmond. That is relaxing for René because it is football talk.

Gijp on TV

John de Mol apparently listened to it a few times, because he does see bread in it. His men’s channel Veronica had for a while the football talk show Veronica offside – who made Wilfred Genee at the time after VI – but that all failed miserably. To offer the target group something in that genre, he called Rob Jansen.

Suddenly John hung on the phone with the request to broadcast the podcast on TV, Rob says in the Story. “The idea originated from John de Mol. He called me and said,” I think you are making a special podcast. How would you find it if I bring your podcast as a football talk show on TV to see if it works? “

‘Bite not’

René and his colleagues saw that. “We talked to John about that and decided to do it. This means nothing for Rene’s role at VI, it doesn’t bite each other. He is under contract at Talpa, so that’s no problem.”

It is striking, because René regularly expresses critically about VI in that podcast and the topics that are discussed there. “Football and everything we discuss, stories, anecdotes and perspective, René fits better than political reporting,” says Rob about it.

June 9

When does that TV test start? On Monday 9 June. Then Kieftjansenegmondgijp will be shown at Veronica at 10.30 pm, exactly as the talk show on SBS 6 – by that time that is the Oranjezomer – ends.

Rob: “However, we are already taking the broadcast around lunch. That will happen four weeks in a row and if it works, it can become something structural.”
