Just like last year, Peter Bosz received a ‘beer shower’ from the PSV players during the press conference after the champion match against Sparta Rotterdam. After this refreshment, he took the time to analyze the season. “We are the justified champion, despite the months in which we did not do it well. I therefore find this title more beautiful than that of last season.”
Bosz wore a shirt with his own head and a cigar in the mouth. “I was called to the stands and was handed over. When I see it that way, I have to say that I look better than in real life.”
During the championship match at the castle, Bosz never doubted the successful outcome. “Not even after the equalizer. We quickly made the second. I think we did this match great. I was not aware of the intermediate position at Ajax, only in the break I heard what it stood. We had to win to become a champion.”
He had not actually counted on a championship, he admits honestly. “It was more realistic weeks ago to look at Feyenoord in the battle for second place. But when we started winning, it started to live more and more with us.”

All in all, he calls the title rightly. “In the beginning and at the end of the competition we were lord and master. We have never scored so many goals together in all competitions. But there was also a phase that we had to pull it hard. It has been a whole fight and that is why I get even more satisfaction from this than the title last year. But I would rather not have made this competition so exciting.”
“It’s very bizarre.”
Luuk de Jong calls the championship ‘insane’. “With five more games to go, we were nine points behind Ajax. Very bizarre that we are still turning it around. We kept going together and we kept believing in it. As a team we can play so well, that was our hold.”

The 34-year-old striker, by the way, leaves the middle whether he will extend his contract with PSV. “I am still the same in it. I told myself that I want to close the season well and that I will think about it calmly.”
“My girlfriend really wanted me to play this game.”
For Joey Veerman it was a special week anyway. A few days ago son Jame was born. “For women it is super heavy, but here in the room there are also men who know what it is like to be next to it,” he says laughing about birth. “It was good that my girlfriend already started on Thursday, because she really wanted me to play this game. These are long days, but how extra nice that we take the title.”
