Eintracht Braunschweig collected a bankruptcy against the 1st FC Nürnberg in the 2nd Bundesliga and has to be the 16th in the relegation relegation against 1. FC Saarbrücken.
In front of 23,000 spectators in the Eintracht stadium on Hamburger Straße, match winner Mahir Emreli (10th minute, 20th, 45th+1) with a triple pack and Julian Justvan (31st) out the 4-1 win of the guests. Sebastian Polter (90th) only scored the honor goal. “The first half was desolate”Braunschweig’s coach Daniel Schering admitted and explained it psychologically: “When the head is paralyzed, the legs are getting heavier.”
With 35 points, Eintracht remains in table 16 and now has to go to the relegation against the third of the 3rd league, which is the 1. FC Saarbrücken. The 1. FC Nürnberg ended the season with 48 points in tenth. “It was incredibly fun”FCN coach Miroslav Klose is happy and added: “We wanted to end the season properly.”
Before the game, the starting point for Eintracht was clear. The Braunschweigers needed a victory against Nuremberg to leave Prussia Münster or Greuther Fürth behind and thus leave the relegation place 16 – but were dependent on shooting aid. With a defeat in Ulm in Münster, one point would also be enough. Of course, the view always went to the other two stages. For the Nuremberg, there was nothing more before the game.
Braunschweig nervous, Nuremberg ice cold
The relegation in mind, the harmony started nervously. The Nuremberg gave the tone and also had the first chances. After a fine passport, the ball came to Emreli via Janis Ansteiste and Berkay Yilmaz, who also hit a hook and then pulled off from 16 meters, goalkeeper Marko Johansson parried. A little later after a corner, he was on the post with an anti-stente headball a little later.

But then the ball hit in the goal. Annex extended a corner from Justvan, Emreli came in and had no trouble from a short distance. There were just ten minutes. Good for Braunschweig: Ulm took the lead almost simultaneously against Münster.
The harmony did little to do that. Ten minutes later, Robin Krauße played a disaster error in the middle of the field, the ball came to Emreli via Justvan, who finished ice cold to 2-0. And it came even worse. In minute 31 Justvan circled a free kick from the right side directly into the upper left corner. Goalkeeper Johansson didn’t look particularly good.
Eintracht hits the post, Nuremberg hits the goal again
But then, you hardly believe it, the Eintracht also had chances. First Rayan Philippe freely appeared in front of goalkeeper Christian Mathenia and only put the ball next to the box, then Julian Baas only hit the post after a corner.
Braunschweig’s coach Daniel Schering reacted with a three -time change before the break, but then Emreli finished the Eintracht urge phase – with his third goal. Caspar Jander played a steep pass on the striker from Azerbaijan from his own half, dancing his opponent Ermin Bicakcic and scored again. With 0: 4 it went into the break and Eintracht needed a miracle in round two.
No Braunschweig catching up
Anyone who had expected a Braunschweig chase after the restart saw themselves deceived. The shock from the first half apparently sat too deep among the players. Nuremberg also did not do the hosts the favor of turning back a gear. So the Eintracht came to some half chances and was again in bad luck when Paul Jaeckel only hit the post after a corner (55.). The Braunschweig fans also set their support almost completely. At least from the Lower Saxony’s point of view, there were no more goals and Polter scored the honor goal shortly before the final whistle.
Scherning asked as a psychologist
Eintracht trainer Scherning is now required. He has to rebuild his team after the disappointing appearance for the two relegation games against Saarbrücken (23rd and 27th May). In this form it will be difficult to keep the class. “I told the boys that the focus on Saarbrücken on tomorrow or the day after tomorrow”said Scherning. “But of course it feels really shit today.”
