“We made it very difficult for ourselves,” Peer Koopmeiners tells Almere City about the game. The midfielder wore the shirt of the Hekkensluiter in the Eredivisie last year and played all 34 league matches for AZ this season.
“We started the ball very carelessly. There are too few players in the field who are performing at a high level. Then you get a somewhat soapy competition,” is the analysis of trainer Maarten Martens.
“A club like AZ should just play European football,” says Koopmeiners in the run-up to the play-offs. SC Heerenveen is the opponent in the semi -final on Thursday. “We played against them twice this season, two very different games,” said Martens, who won 9-1 at home and lost 3-1.
