Dembers VfL Bochum celebrated a success again at the end of the season in the Bundesliga and won 2-0 (1-0) at FC St. Pauli. But the Hamburgers were also allowed to celebrate in the end, because now the relegation is also calculated.
Myron Boadu scored both goals for VfL (10th/66th), who could no longer leave the last place in the table. St. Pauli ends the season as a promoted place in 14th place.
Never relegation from FC St. Pauli in danger
A lot should have happened so that FC St. Pauli actually slips on the relegation place again. The 1. FC Heidenheim would have needed a high victory in the parallel game against Werder Bremen, but was lost 1: 4.
Nevertheless, the Hamburgers did not want to leave anything to chance and took the magazine in hand against Bochum from the start. However, the hosts were not really dangerous in the initial phase.
Boadu crowns solo with gate to 1-0
VfL Bochum, or striker Boadu, then showed how this works with efficiency. He got the ball on the penalty area, left three opponents in the dribbling and then also overcame goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj to the somewhat surprising Bochum leadership (10th).
The goal did not change the statics of the game. St. Pauli still had more possession, but it was difficult to get chances. In the 20th minute, Morgan Guilavogi suddenly came to the header six meters in front of the goal, but only headed into Timo Horn’s arms.
Afolayan does not hit the empty gate
Two minutes later, Horn almost returned and played the ball in front of the penalty area in the feet of Oladapo Afolayan. However, the striker was too surprised and shot the ball well over the empty goal (22nd).
More was no longer offensive in half -time because FC St. Pauli missed both accuracy and speed and VfL Bochum did not have the too big urge to play forward with the lead in the back.
St. Pauli without Power, Bochum efficient
New half, the same picture: St. Pauli in forward gear, but without a punch. The hosts did not bring about more than a post from a very pointed angle from Philipp (60th).
And Bochum? Efficient. With the first serious attack of the second half, VfL placed 2-0. In a counterattack, Felix Passlack served the completely free Boadu in the middle, who easily laced the double pack (66.).
Final phase without great excitement
The gate now finally pulled the plug to the already low -level game. Both teams took it easy in the final phase. The Bochum victory was no longer in danger. After the final whistle, the fans of FC St. Pauli still flooded the lawn.
