Luke Plapp has won the eighth stage in the Tour of Italy, a stage over 197 kilometers from Giulianova to Castelraimondo with a lot of climbing in the Apennines. The Jayco-Alula rider escaped a leading group about 46 kilometers from the finish and then soloed hilly roads to the victory. Wilco Kelderman (Visma – Lease a Bike), who was also included in the long escape, arrived second at the finishes at 38 seconds behind Plapp.
