Real Madrid has confirmed the obligation of defense talent Dean Huijsen. The 20 -year -old international Spain changes from AFC Bournemouth to the royal, who activated the exit clause in the contract of the native of Amsterdam.
The Cherries confirmed that the transfer to be paid for the equivalent of 59.5 million euros. This is what Huijsen, who only moved from Juventus Turin to Bournemouth in the summer of 2024 for EUR 15.2 million, is the most expensive defender in the history of the Spanish record champions.
Real reacts with the commitment of the vertical starter, the market value of which was still 10 million at the beginning of the season and climbed to EUR 42 million, to the problems in central defense. David Alaba (32), Antonio Rüdiger (32) and Éder Militão (27) collected numerous serious injuries and are currently out. Therefore, Huijsen will join the Madrid squad for the club World Cup. The most expensive purchase of the royal for the defense was Militão, who came from FC Porto for 50 million euros in 2019.
Before transfer to England: BVB was on Huijsen and got Anton
Bournemouth can be gold -plated the transfer with £ 50 million. The Cherries only took up more when selling Dominic Solanke for 64.3 million euros in Tottenham 2024, but must not keep the complete transfer. Ten percent of the transfer profit go to Juventus Turin, where the defender was trained – with an increase of 44.3 million euros. FC Málaga is also involved as Huijsen’s youth club.
In 2024, Huijsen was associated with the BVB for weeks in the rumor mill, which at the time decided on Waldemar Anton (28) from VfB Stuttgart’s 22.5 million euros. The Swabians were also said to be interested in Huijsen after Anton’s departure before Bournemouth was awarded the contract. At the Cherries he became one of the best central defenders of the Premier League and made his debut for the Spanish national team shortly before his 20th birthday.
The fact that he did this at the age of 19 is also due to the fact that at the age of 16 he decided to leave the youth of FC Málaga and join Juventus – the old lady paid 470,000 euros. “It took me a long time to make the decision, it was difficult, but I think it was the best for everyone,” Huijsen told “Relevo” in March. He wanted to bring his defense game at Juve and later with the Roma, for whom he ran the second half of 2023/24 loan.
“The reason why I went to Italy was that I wanted to improve on the defensive, I wanted to be more complete. In Spain I improved my ball control, and in England the intensity with which they play there. I learned a lot through the high pace and one-on-one game.” At the age of 20 he has now arrived at the world’s largest club.
