International, Errani-Poolini in the final in the women’s double

Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini open the blue weekend at the Foro Italico in the best way. The Russian Mirra Andreeva and Diana Shnaider beat 6-4 6-4 and reach the final of the women’s double. On Sunday the title against the winners of the other semifinal Kudermetova/Mertens-Hunter/Perez will be played. For the blue couple it is the encore to the international, after the triumph of last year. And it is yet another high -level performance in a beautiful tandem career. Sara and Jasmine, Olympic gold in Paris where Andreeva and Shnaider passed in the final, are returned from a super 2024: in addition to the games and victory in Billie Jean King Cup, they imposed themselves in Rome (WTA 1000), in Beijing (WTA 1000) and Linz (WTA 500) and arrived in the final at Roland Garros, participating in the late year at the Finals of Riad. This is the eighth final for them in the circuit, also considering the title A Monastir (WTA 250) in 2023, the final in Doha (WTA 1000) in 2025 and the final in Melbourne (WTA 250) in 2022.

The Italian couple places in the fifth game the break that decides the first set. Then, on Paolini’s service, the advantage consolidates: 4-2. Jasmine is perfect as a background and is shown in great shape in view of tomorrow’s singular final against the American Gauff, Sara confirms herself a teacher of the specialty and capable of making the difference in the net. The youngest opponents (Andeeva is 18 years old and Shnaider 21, while Paolini has 29 and Errani 38) beat the bottom but do not understand much. Much more close -knit friends of our house, who move in symbiosis and, in delicate points, show greater personality. On 4-3 and Errani service, our 15-30 come back and are carried on 5-3. Same film on 5-4. Here Errani emerges with three decisive volée. First set archived: 6-4. In the second part, Sara and Jasmine leave strong and conquer the break in the start, but to the Russian, growing, the counterbreak immediately succeeds: 2-2. On 3-2 the blue save two break balls but not the third. The opponents run away 4-2, then Errani and Paolini have the strength to snatch the service in the shnaider shift (4-4). And they place the break again, with a super Paolini who gets on with winning shots. It closes 6-4, with four games in a row for the Italians.
