The solar panel park has an area comparable to eight football fields, together 7,650 solar panels. That is good for 4,400 MWh per year, or the consumption of 400 families. “This project temporarily activates a wasteland, owned by a housing company, where no social rental homes can be built today. All proceeds flow directly back to the housing company for the sustainable renovation of existing homes,” says Deputy Jurgen Vanlerberghe.
The panels have been there for a while, and certainly in the beginning caused some nuisance from local residents. Especially the sound caused some annoyance with some dense neighbors.
