Changes on the rear suspension and some improved detail on the SF-25 to adapt it to the characteristics of the circuit: but the greatest developments will be seen in Barcelona with the new wing

Ferrari arrives in Imola with an aerodynamic development that in fact complete the one introduced in Bahrain, with some changes to the bottom and more generally some adjustments at the level of wings, specific for this track. Not a large package, also because in two weeks another will follow that will also include the new version of the front wing according to the limits of flexibility increased by the FIA regulation.

Ferrari suspension

The limits of the SF-25 clearly emerged in Miami, where it was clear that a very relevant deficiency was the traction out of the slow curves and, above all, the travel of medium slow curves with a rather large radius of curvature. In essence, the car set up to manage the rear axle had induced, indeed worse, the understeer by sending the front in crisis. At the basis of these problems, the concept of the rear suspension, proved in part inadequate to marry the different balance of the car deriving from the adoption of the front suspension Pull Rod. The technicians in Maranello would have studied non -invasive changes to the rear suspension, in fact by slightly changing the inclination of the upper arms and the tie rod Pull Rod.

fast curves problem

But for the GP of Emilia Romagna and then for the Spanish GP in two weeks, the attention remains focused on improving the aerodynamic balance of the SF-25, trying above all to make the aerodynamic pressure center more stable, proved to be a substantial weak point of this car in the long fast curves. The instability of this aerodynamic “gravity” of facts makes the behavior unpredictable by not finding that dynamic mediation by the rear suspension, capable of giving adequate stability to the rear. In Imola, the first step of development which then in Spain will also be completed with the adoption of a newly concept front wing and above all construction to return to the new flexibility limits that will enter into force in Barcelona.
