The Catalans have to do without one of their top scores in the last games of the current season. For this, an old acquaintance is now in focus.
In theory, FC Barcelona can make the championship title in Spain perfect in the derby near Espanyol (from 9.30 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online). Actually, the Catalans even have a draw at the city rival – because then the team of coach Hansi Flick would have six points ahead of Real Madrid two game days before the end, but also a better goal difference at the moment. Accordingly, the striker (19 goals and 7 templates in 45 competitive games 2025/26) had to undergo the intervention because of appendicitis.
However, the club did not provide any information on the possible downtime of the 25-year-old, but Torres is expected to be not only available for the season finale, but also for the Nation’s League games with the Spanish national team in early June.
Torres only towered over last weekend with three goals in the 4: 3 victory in Clásico against Real Madrid.
However, another big name will replace him: Robert Lewandowski, recovered again after a thigh injury, should play against Espanyol again from the start. Until his injury, the 36-year-old had scored 40 goals in 49 competitive games and prepared three more goals.
