The debate about Tim Lemperle is picking up. The Cologne native was attacked on Sunday in a dispute. But he himself shouldn’t have been innocent.

The beating scandal around Tim Lemperle has got a new chapter. Because on Tuesday, the alleged perpetrator’s lawyer spoke up and claims that his client had acted in self -defense in the dispute with the professional of the 1st FC Köln. Basically means: Lemperle is said to have been the aggressor, not the victim.

What had happened anyway? On Sunday, two days after the 2-1 win in Nuremberg, Lemperle is said to have been present on the party ship “Rhein Roxy” in Rodenkirchen, writes the “Bild” newspaper. The strongly alcoholized striker had clashed there with another guest. According to the report, the dispute already seemed settled. But when Lemperle left the ship shortly after 9 p.m., his adversary waited for him. The result: the man is said to have hit the 23-year-old footballer in the face with his fist, added a broken nose, a laceration and a concussion.

A police spokesman confirmed the “Bild” on Sunday: “An advertisement has been received. We are investigating unknown persons for assault.” The suspect is fleeting. But his lawyer now draws a different picture of the whole situation.

Martin Bücher, who represents the alleged perpetrator, emphasized on Tuesday in an interview with the “Express” that he had turned to the Cologne police headquarters and announced his client’s personal data. The man had “not withdrawn from the process, contrary to partly different reports, nor tried to disguise his identification,” said books. “There was no reason.”

Exciting: Books version of the evening throws a much worse light on Lemperle. The lawyer also speaks of a strong alcoholization of the player. This was primarily said in the fact that Lemperle “got into aggressive word battles with various male other guests,” said books. It is said to have been a high alcohol level, but also about his behavior and his attitude to the upcoming season finale. Bücher’s client was not involved in the discussions, but apparently was able to notice how irritated the U21 international looked.

At some point, however, he also clashed with Lemperle because the athlete should “behave verbally and physically inappropriate”. The man, himself Cologne fan, asked Lemperle to refrain and leave the event. He apparently advised Lemperle to go to bed and focus on the season finale with the club.

Lemperle is not said to have followed the advice. Rather, he continued to drink alcohol and then repeatedly provoked the man. Outside the party boat, there was later a random meeting. Books clearly called: “Contrary to partial reports, my client did not call any ‘reinforcements’ because he had not expected a physical argument.”

Lemperle then verbally provoked and “put a behavior into the day that put my client in a self -defense situation from which he freed himself with a single blow.” A companion of Lemperles was also involved in the situation. Books emphasized: “My client was also injured and also suffered property damage.” Witnesses have observed this. “The further passage of the investigation will now show who is actually responsible for criminal law.”

According to “Express”, Lemperle, who was hospitalized, was not able to carry out a breath test to determine his alcohol level. Therefore, a blood sample was carried out. The result: 2.4 per thousand. It is unclear whether the striker will again appear for 1. FC Köln. He is currently only training individually. In summer he will, according to the TSG Hoffenheim.
