With Stefan Lainer and Borussia Mönchengladbach, the signs are at a farewell this summer. The Austrian does not come past the right defensive side Joe Scally and only has one contract until 2026. According to the “picture”, the defender has now made his change of change, as already in winter.
Lainer was on the field for just 698 minutes this season, in the Bundesliga it was only five times enough for the starting eleven. The good performance from his first seasons on the Niederrhein was a long time ago, although after the game against FC Bayern (0: 2), in which he was allowed to go 90 minutes, praise from coach Gerardo Seoane: “Stevie did it defensively and offensive. Of course, the situation is not easy for him because we have often chosen in the coaching team. But he has earned everything in every training session.”
Lainer would probably only have a prospects for a regular place next year when selling Scally. Although this is not excluded-Premier League clubs are considered prospective customers-but it is more likely to have a departure of the 32-year-old, whose market value has fallen from 18 million euros (2019) to EUR 1.8 million in recent years.
