The recent visit by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to Moscow caused resentment within the European Union. Despite repeated warnings from Brussels, Vučić traveled to the Red Square in Moscow on 9 May for the Military Parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany. Antonio Costa, chairman of the European Council, emphasized that Serbia remains fully committed to joining the EU, but warned that the bond with Russia causes tensions.
