In 2024, conflicts and natural disasters led to a record number of displaced persons. Worldwide, the number of displaced persons who had to flee in their own country rose to 83.4 million people. An increase of 10 percent compared to 2023 and more than a doubling compared to six years ago. This is stated in the annual report of the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC).
