The stolen silver medal from Atlanta 1996 and bronze medal from Sydney 2000 recently appeared in an ad on 2dehands.be. The ‘owner’ turned out to be a minor boy who would not have known that the medals had been stolen. The boy’s grandfather had given the medals in his hands through the – legitimate – buying of a bankruptcy.

“I am not angry at all. It is a minor who helped his grandfather to put and sell the things they have bought from a bankruptcy. That teenager has acted without bad intentions,” says the ex-judoka.
