After the perfect Bundesliga promotion, the anticipation for the soccer players of Hamburger SV is huge. The HSV women want to open a new chapter 13 years after the forced relegation. But there is still a lot to do.

After a “huge trip”, Victoria Schulz has reached the goal of her dreams. The 27-year-old has been kicking for the HSV since the e-youth-and is also familiar with family black and white blue: her grandfather Willi once played for the “red pants” and was a German international.

“We are really looking forward to the Bundesliga. And I think the league is also looking forward to us.”
-HSV striker Victoria Schulz

“It is completely surreal, I am incredibly happy,” said the granddaughter, who, unlike her grandfather in the field, has always swirls on the offensive, after the 3-0 victory against SC Freiburg II, who brought the HSV women back into the first division. “Huge steps have been taken among the HSV women in the past five years. And the dream of returning to the Bundesliga has become more and more tangible. Now it has come true.”

Bundesliga return after 13 years

A return with a long start. In 2012, the then board member of Hamburger SV reported the women’s team from the Bundesliga. The team was not profitable and the Presidium was no longer ready to pay the grants. We were talking about a low six -digit amount. For comparison: This summer, around 26 million euros were invested in the men alone.

For many who held it with the women’s team at the time, and of course for the footballers themselves, it felt like screaming injustice. It was forced to continue in the regional league. Briefly it even went down to the Hamburg association league.

President Jansen: “Stand here now is amazing”

But a few years ago the switch was flipped back. “We said six or seven years ago – and there was no hype: We put women’s football at the HSV back on the menu again,” said outgoing club president Marcell Jansen, who was there on Sunday at the Bundesliga promotion of women. “At that time we laid the foundation stone – and there were challenging years. Now standing here is amazing.”

Thanks to the sponsors – profit at HSV women

And a lot is happening at the HSV. Women’s football coordinator Saskia Breuer had recently announced that no player has to work on the side. All players should be able to live from kicking in the future. This is made possible by your own sponsors, explained Breuer in the NDR interview.

We have now climbed – and we want to stay there. This is only possible if we also devote ourselves to the whole topic all day. “
-HSV striker Victoria Schulz

Jansen added: “In recent years, women have made a massive contribution to another perception of the HSV.” In general, the vision for his term of office to finally establish EV as a large HSV was true.

And so it fits that the cooperation between the women’s football division with HSV Football AG should also be further intensified. “The next step would be the outsourcing of the women’s department from EV We are checking everything,” said Breuer, who has been in charge of women since last summer. However, the recent successes in particular have shown that “everything works great in the EV”.

All games in the future in Volksparkstadion

Last but not least, the end of the shoulder between EV and AG shows the fact that women will play all home games in the Volksparkstadion in the coming season. The record semi-final in the DFB Cup against Werder Bremen (1: 3 NV) in front of 57,000 enthusiastic viewers greets.

Actually, Breuer and Co. had hoped to continue to play less attractive opponents for fans in 6th place in the shadow of the Great Arena if the facility (630 standing room) is converted into a mini stadium. However, the DFB put a stop. The sticking point is the precautions for the TV broadcasts necessary for the Bundesliga. “We have to enable certain camera positions,” said Breuer. On the spot an almost impossible “logistical topic”.

5,000 to 6,000 fans in Volksparkstadion?

All games were sold in 6th place this season, except for the catch -up game against SV Weinberg, which took place on a Wednesday afternoon. In the coming season, this will be true for the fewest games of the HSV women. But the anticipation is still great. “I was born in Hamburg and can play in the Volkspark every two weeks. Even if it were empty, it would be a huge thing,” emphasized striker Schulz.

Because of the lack of “experience”, you cannot really assess at the HSV how many fans will really find their way to the games. “But why shouldn’t we create a good average?” Asked Breuer. You think of 5,000 to 6,000 fans. When I think about the many empty ranks, “I don’t worry, we look forward to it”.

Hard decisions: Coach and captain have to go

The coordinator, who works closely with Club icon and women’s football sponsor Horst Hrubesch at the HSV women, wanted to sit at the desk again at 8 a.m. despite the promotion ceremony on Monday morning. The plans were two tracks for months. “Now we can tackle our topics differently.”

It has been clear for a long time that there would be changes: the Brazilian Liése Brancao head coach Marwin Bolz replaced. In the four years that the 27-year-old was at HSV (initially as a co-coach of Lewe Timm), the women rose from the third to the first division.

After the fixed Bundesliga return, other personnel decisions were also announced. Among other things, the long -time player and captain Sarah Stöckmann no longer receives a contract. One might think that at HSV the revolution on its children. For Breuer it is hard, but in view of the recent rapid development, it is necessary to make the team fit for the Bundesliga.

HSV women want to provide surprises in the Bundesliga

The climb was celebrated deep into Sunday evening. The duel, originally identified as a possible decision -making game, with pursuer SV Meppen next Sunday has become sportily meaningless. The dream of the Bundesliga – it has already become real.

“We had two duels with Bundesliga clubs in the DFB Cup. This is the level with which we want to measure ourselves,” emphasized Schulz. “Sure, we are outsiders as a promoted, but we want to set our fragrance brands – also against Bayern, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg.”

The granddaughter of “World Cup Willi” is optimistic that her teammates can also provide many surprises in the Bundesliga. Schulz said: “We wish for a home game on the first match day – whoever wants to come. And I would like to see which opponent leaves it cold when she comes to the Volksparkstadion.”
