The 1. FC Kaiserslautern has won a victory against SV Darmstadt 98 in the 2nd Bundesliga and can therefore continue to hope for third place.
In the 2-1 win in front of 49,000 spectators in the Fritz-Walter Stadium, Luca Marseiler (3rd) initially brought the guests early, Marlon Ritter equalized with a penalty (15th), Ragnar Ache (45.+7) turned the game.
Lautern does not make it on its own
Before the last match day, Kaiserslautern is in sixth place in the table with 53 points. This means that the Palatinate can continue to jump to relegation place three. To do this, however, you need a victory at 1. FC Köln and you are dependent on the mistakes of the competitors from Elversberg and Paderborn. Darmstadt remains twelfth with 39 points.

“We have to see that we will win in Cologne and then let’s see,” said Lautern’s new coach Thorsten Lieberknecht quite soberly after the victory “against a really strong Darmstadt team,” as Lieberknecht praised.

Darmstadt’s Marseiler hits and causes a penalty
The really strong guests had taken the lead after a few minutes. After a ball loss of the Lauterer on his own sixteen, Killian Corredor immediately took off, goalkeeper Julian Krahl could only let the ball clap, Marseiler was on the spot and dusted off.
Lautern reacted angrily and developed a wealth of opportunities in a short time. Of all things, Marseiler then lost the overview and met Jean Zimmer in the penalty area on the foot, knight converted the due penalty.

Lautern at the back very vulnerable
Nevertheless, the Palatinate remained nervous and susceptible. After an inaccurate back pass, Krahl played the ball in front of the feet of Fraser Hornby, which pulled out from 17 meters. Krahl then made his dropout well again and parried the shot.
After a good half an hour, the Lauterer then had huge happiness and again the focus was on goalkeeper Krahl. He jumped past the ball at a corner, in the subsequent fray of ISAC Lidberg the ball pressed the ball over the line, but the Var decided on the side – a very tight decision.
Ache meets deep in added time for FCK
And deep in the added time of the first half it became strange. The FCK caught a discount from Darmstadt goalkeeper Marc Schuhen on the center line and then it went very quickly. Daniel Hanslik played the ball on Ache, who hit the goal without further limited and worth seeing from 16 meters. The Darmstädter then vehemently complained because referee Robin Braun is said to have stood in the way of the emergence of the hit “Lilien” striker Hornby. The break was 2-1, a rather happy lead for Kaiserslautern.
Lautern in the second round weak
In the second half, the game flattened out, it was tough and torn. The Darmstadt residents had the first good chance, but goalkeeper Krahl parried a header from Clemens Riedel after a corner with the help of the post.
The “lilies” were the better team anyway in the second round and put a lot of pressure, but Lautern tried early to save the lead over time. That also succeeded.
Darmstadt coach Florian Kohfeldt was annoyed after the game. “We were the very better team, so of course it hurts.”
