Geert Wilders is the reason that Nikkie de Jager cannot be heard alongside Cornald Maas as co-commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest. At least, she states that herself. “Because of the cuts!”
Jan Smit left after a year because of the Mia & Dion debacle, Jacqueline Govaert dropped out because she doesn’t bake anything and now Cornald Maas is on his own again: the commentary box of the Eurovision Songfestival is not exactly filled this year. According to Nikkie de Jager, also known as Nikkietutorials, it didn’t matter much or had been next to it.
Commentary
The 31-year-old Nikkie was last night at the table At Renze Klamer, who presents her: “Didn’t you just want to be the commentator too?”
Nikkie: “Love. Yes! But Cornald went alone! Hahahaha.”
Renze: “Has that been an option?”
Nikkie: “It has been talked about, yes.”
Renze: “With Cornald too?”
“By Wilders!”
Why didn’t it go? Nikkie: “Yes, cuts and so on, isn’t it?”
Renze: “Were you too expensive?”
Nikkie: “I said:” I also want to come flying in for free, but no, it didn’t happen. Unfortunately. Who knows another time. “
Renze: “But what was the reason that it was canceled?”
Nikkie: “Ehh, Geert Wilders. Hahaha.”
Cornald Alone
Renze doesn’t understand. “Ehh?”
Nikkie: “Yes, the public broadcaster must cut back.”
Renze: “There was financial room for one commentator?”
Nikkie: “Yes, if they thought: we do Cornald alone for a moment, because then things will go well anyway, but it has been discussed.”
Renze: “Too bad.”
Nikkie: “Yes, very.”
Nice combination
Renze thinks this would have been much nicer than just Cornald. “I had found it a nice combination actually.”
Nikkie: “Yes, but also a lot.”
Renze: “Isn’t that part of the Songfestival?”
Nikkie: “That’s true too.”
