High voltage in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga: On Saturday, decisions could be made which teams have to leave the league. An overview.

FC St. Pauli as Table-14. And the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as 15. But both clubs have five points air on the relegation place and even six on the first relegation zone. It is not excluded that the North Germans and the Kraichgauer are getting into relegation again, but unlikely. The situation is different for 1. FC Heidenheim, Holstein Kiel and VfL Bochum.

1. FC Heidenheim, 16th place, 33:60 goals, 26 points

At Heidenheim, in addition to preparing for the game at Union Berlin, there were also hospital visits to the To do-List. Goalkeeper Kevin Müller was able to leave the hospital, in which he had to spend several days after his heavy concussion. Müller had collided with Bochums Ibrahima Sissoko on the last matchday and treated on the square for a long time. An insert is out of the question.

The goalkeeper thanked for the help and support from his team, but also for that on the part of VfL Bochum: “I know our two teams are in sporty difficult situations”according to Müller, “It is all the better that there was a moment (although unfortunately not in the positive) that all united.” Because Bochum’s Philipp Hofmann was also admitted to the same hospital during the game as Müller (more on this below).

The sporting starting position at the Heidenheimers is not bad: Frank Schmidt and his team scored 14 points from the last ten games, most recently a draw against Bochum and a victory against VfB Stuttgart. The upcoming opponent Union Berlin is already in the safe harbor and no longer has to worry about relegation. However, the Berliners could set up a new club record with a point win against 1. FC Heidenheim. There have never been nine Bundesliga games without defeat for the Köpenickers within a season.

It is very unlikely that the kickers from Brenz can still create 15th place: Hoffenheim has a better record of nine goals.

Holstein Kiel, 17th place, 48:75 goals, 25 points

Holstein Kiel recently presented himself in the second half of the season like Heidenheim. Thanks to their refreshing style of play, the “storks” won 13 points in the last ten games. The team of Marcel Rapp recently turned up: FC Augsburg was 3: 1, Borussia Mönchengladbach 4: 3.

“We start every game like a final”defender Carl Johansson made it clear. Rapp also emphasized: “We are always in the Bundesliga”and keeper Thomas Dähne said: “The breast becomes wider.” But the Kielers should worry about Shuto Machino. The Japanese – with eleven goals in the best scorer of the North German – had to get off the square in Augsburg with an ankle injury. The Kielers do not know whether it is enough for an assignment on Saturday.

Speaking of Saturday: Although Kiel’s gap to relegation-place 16 is only one counter, the gap is felt huge. Because first comes Champions LeagueAspirant SC Freiburg in the Holstein Stadium and then you travel to the largest German stadium in Dortmund at the end of the season. And the BVB is also full of drive to get a nice ticket for a European competition.

The fact is: Kiel must score – even without the yellow -blocked Nicolai Remberg. Because if Heidenheim should win, the descent would otherwise be sealed.

What also applies to VfL Bochum – the situation for VfL is a corner even more dramatic. Because VfL has to enter two victories against Mainz (at home) and then on the last matchday of St. Pauli in order to still have a theoretical chance of the relegation place.

But – as mentioned in connection with Heidenheim’s Kevin Müller – VfL also had to digest the serious injury to Philipp Hofmann. The striker had broken a rib against the FCH, which then injured a pulmonary wing.

With all hope for a sporting surprise: VfL has already promoted the plans for the 2nd Bundesliga and secured the services of coach Dieter Hecking. The starting position is not funny for the VfL fans before the last two match days: Highlight in the last ten games was the victory at Bayern – otherwise there were only three other lean dots. Too little to keep the class. But who knows that the relegation place is still possible – if Heidenheim does not win and VfL ends up a threesome against Mainz.

Aid campaign for ex-player Tom Weilandt

The last home game of the season is also important for two more reasons: On the one hand, VfL and Hansa Rostock are looking for ex-players Tom Weilandt in a large typing campaign for a possible stem cell dispenser. The midfielder is again ill with leukemia and needs help.

And on the other hand, long -time captain Anthony Losilla and Cristian Gamboa are said goodbye. How the two players will continue will only be communicated after the end of the season.

Finally one Funfact: VfL attacker Moritz Broschinski has been involved in all games so far in the current season. But never over the entire season. He could become the first Bundesliga player to have 33 part -time missions within a season. So far he has been replaced 15 times and 17 times.
