The Drenthe (VRD) Safety Region has scaled up the risk of natural fires by the drought to phase 2 on the nature fire-risk card. The change starts during the night from Friday to Saturday.
Phase 2 means, among other things, that there is active communication about the growing risk of natural fires due to the drought. Municipalities can also proceed to a smoking and heating ban in the open nature and oversee the permit of events.
Last month the phase for the natural fire risk was also increased from 1 to 2. That had consequences for the Easter fires in Drenthe; These were deleted by many municipalities. Due to rainfall, the risk level was reduced again just before Easter.
So until the end of this week, because the VRD is once again forced to set alarm phase 2. Until when this remains in force is not known.
