He has already worn out two pairs of hiking shoes. But what do you want, after 1850 kilometers. Frank Boerebach from the Zeeland corner is busy with a monster trip. On walking, he puts on all Dutch municipalities, 342 to be precise. A total of more than four thousand kilometers of walking.

“Because I want to see the whole of the Netherlands. Everyone has been somewhere in the Netherlands, but who can say that he saw the whole of the Netherlands? That seemed cool to say.” But his walking tour also has a sad reason. “I have lost several people from my family to cancer. My father, three brothers and a year and a half ago also my wife. I want to pick up donations for care and aftercare for people with cancer with this trip. That is why my journey is also called ‘whole Netherlands’, because I want to make people again. It has a double meaning.”

Yet Boerebach did not go for a walk like therapy. “No, I am often asked if it makes me a lot again. It will undoubtedly help, but I also walk to celebrate my own health and freedom. And to be able to give something back with my health to help people who are sick.”

The walker from Zeeland has already raised around twenty thousand euros, but his target amount is a lot higher. “I would really like to raise 128,000 euros. That stands for the number of people who were diagnosed with cancer in the year my wife died, 2023. A euro per person, that would be very nice.”

Today’s final destination is Gieten, the municipality of Aa and Hunze. But through the town hall of Borger Odoorn in Exloo where alderman Ankie van Tongeren is ready to put a municipal temple in his writing. Afterwards the proof that he really was in every municipality. For that he has to continue. In mid -August he will get his very last stamp in the Zeeland municipality of Borsele, and that evening he will sleep in his own bed again after six months.
