The woman was approached by telephone around 11.45 that morning by a man who published himself as an employee of the bank. He had been working for the bank for fifteen years and warned of alleged fraud. “Here again abuse is made of the authority of the bank and the good name of fraud services,” said the police.

To prevent further damage, the scammer asked the woman to put her bank card in an envelope and to give it to a courier. A short time later a young man appeared at her home to pick up the envelope. “The real bank will never ask you to do this.”

Visibly nervous

Around 12.40 the same day, the stolen only more than a thousand euros was recorded at an ATM at Velserbroekse Dreef. The suspect, visibly nervous and unstable, was recorded on camera images. These images are currently bleeding.
