Tennis professional Daniel Altmaier left in Rome after a weak performance in the first round of the ATP master.
The 26-year-old Kempener lost his opening match against the Argentine Francisco Comesaña 1: 6, 5: 7, after his clear first round in Madrid, it was the second disappointment for Altmaier in a row.
At the Masters in Monte Carlo at the start of the clay court season, Altmaier had fought himself into the round of 16, less than three weeks before the French Open (from May 25), the world ranking 71 is looking for 71. But now in vain according to its shape.
Anger after horror start
Against Comesaña (number 63 in the world), Altmaier made a horror start, after his second to zero, he shook his racket on the floor. The first set was lost after 28 minutes. In the second round Altmaier lasted against it, but then collected the decisive break to 5: 6 – and a little later went out of the square as a loser.
From a German point of view, only Alexander Zverev is in the tournament, the secondary secondary list of the world rankings only intervenes on Friday or Saturday in the second round. Jan-Lennard Struff withdrew his participation in the Italian capital at short notice.
