Marco Borsato has a lawyer who doesn’t need to know anything about his songs. An unpleasant genre, says Geert-Jan Knoops. “It is not for me that,” he says decisively.
The strategy that top lawyer Geert-Jan Knoops has chosen to assist Marco Borsato in his abuse case is not praised by everyone. John van den Heuvel, for example, criticizes the way Kamp-Borsato has trained the business and Hans Klok thinks it is stupid that the singer did not strongly deny the Munks on his Danny.
Exciting
Geert-Jan stood in it with a big interview last weekend Ad And in that he was asked for the case by the interviewer. “You can’t say much about the case yet, I know, but it will be an exciting matter if he has done it or will it just be saving what there is to save?”
He then says: “I can’t really say much about it now. But yes, I think it will be an important and exciting matter.”
Classical music
Which music does Geert-Jan like to listen to? “Especially classical music. We have far too little time to go to concerts. Recently to the Concertgebouw because the youngest son treated us. A piano concert by Schumann.”
So no Borsato? Smiling, he says: “The Dutch -language pop music is not spent on me. Although of course I have all the respect for Dutch -speaking singers.”
On the radio
Does he understand that many radio stations no longer run Borsato? No. “In fact, even if he is convicted, anyone who wants to just play his music can, I think. As I also think that the Ernest Louwes (Deventer Moordzaak, ed.) For murder should be able to work as a lawyer.”
“He studied law in detention and wanted that, but it was not allowed to” because it would cause too much commotion. “I understand that, but I believe that someone who has served his sentence deserves a chance. Why is it necessary to hinder someone for the rest of his life?”
