With a peace rally, artists who have joined together to form the “Sound of Peace” initiative are positioning themselves against the war in Ukraine on Sunday (March 20) in Berlin. The event at the Brandenburg Gate will be musically supported by numerous acts.

Alongside Silbermond, Peter Maffay, Gentleman, Revolverheld, Michael Patrick Kelly, Antje Schomaker and Zoe Wees, many other musicians will appear under the message “End the war”. This list is not final, according to the organizers on their website. The event will be broadcast live on ProSieben and Sat.1.

“Sound of Peace” sees music as a means “to unite people universally and to build bridges”. This attitude gave rise to the idea for the event. The initiative wants to “use this power and energy to set a strong and unmissable symbol for peace, human rights and democracy.”

In addition, “Sound of Peace” calls for donations, which are then to be distributed to various aid organizations by the “LeaveNoOneBehind” movement. Examples of organizations include Stelp, Cadus and Libereco/Vostok SOS, each dedicated to providing humanitarian or medical assistance in Ukraine.

In addition to the rally in Berlin, “Sound of Peace” calls on cultural workers from all over the world to take part in the movement and also to organize events. The website says: “Now, more urgently than ever, we need an international sign of hope and solidarity.”

Behind “Sound of Peace” are artists, companies and associations from the music and event industry, as well as NGOs. All participants are on the site to see the initiative.

In the past few weeks, various artists have expressed their solidarity with Ukraine on social media, such as Madonna and Sting. In addition, The Cure started a fundraising campaign with charity shirts and Till Lindemann is auctioning off a work of art, the proceeds of which will also be donated to Ukraine.
