Drenthe will be the territory of large -scale airborne operations from next week. About 1500 soldiers and twenty helicopters are involved in the exercise.
The Defense exercise, known as Falcon Spring, is performed in the municipalities of Tynaarlo, Midden-Drenthe, Noordenveld and De Wolden. The operation also takes place in Groningen, Friesland, Overijssel and parts of Flevoland.
From Monday to Friday, soldiers are trained in night flying, low -flying and airmobile operations. People flown during the day and in the evening. Falcon Spring is an exercise in which ground troops perform actions supported by aerial units of the Defense Helicopter Commando. This way you can practice with the tactical movement at low heights.
Among other things, use is made of unmanned reconnaissance aircraft. This happens, for example, on Wednesday 15 May in the neighborhood. In that area on Thursday 15 May, one hundred soldiers will also be deposited by helicopters and then another 150. Subsequently, material is supplied by helicopters.
During the night, the soldiers stay on their own in the area and will be picked up again by the helicopters on Friday 16 May. Saturday 17 May the area will be ‘clean’ again.
Falcon Spring ends on May 23.
