The German professional cycling team Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe dares to attack the pink jersey in the 108th Giro d’Italia (May 9th to June 1). The contingent announced on Friday for the first major state tour of the year is led by ex-winner Primoz Roglic. The Slovenian won the tour of Italy two years ago, at that time still in the jersey of the Jumbo-Visma team.

In 2022, Bora Hansgrohe achieved the first major tour in the team history through Jai Hindley’s giro success. The Australian is once again in the eight -member line -up of the Raublingen racing team and is supposed to play out its strengths in the mountains. Nico Denz’s helper services (Waldshut-Tiengen) are particularly challenged in the flat terrain. The Giro team is completed by Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe by Daniel Martínez (Colombia), Jan Tratnik (Slovenia), Giovanni Aleotti, Gianni Moscon and Giulio Pellizzari (all Italy).

The giro opening stage will lead to Tirana next Friday. There are three stages in Albania, then the first day of rest and a transfer to Italy follows. Defending champion Tadej Pogacar does without a start this year and focuses on the Tour de France in July after an intensive classic block.
