“Rodrigo, if I don’t control everything, everything goes out.”
That phrase told me more than once in recent years.
And every time I listen to her, I confirm something:
Many leaders are not leading. They are surviving.
X control is not leadership.
X Pressing is not negotiating.
X knowing everything is not trusting.
And the more you try to control … the less space you leave for your team to grow, so that your client trusts, so that ideas flow.
The uncomfortable truth is that leading well Requires negotiating with maturity. And that implies a huge dose of empathy, strategic silence and tolerance to uncertainty.
But of course, that is not taught in PowerPoints.

Three tactics that changed the game for many:
1. Ask, don’t impose.
Instead of: “This must be done so”I said:
“What obstacles do you see for this to work?”
2. Value the no.
A “no” is not failure. It is the beginning of a real negotiation.
Reply: “What would we need to adjust?”
3. Advanced with microacked.
Don’t want everything already. It will achieve small yes.
Each step builds more than a great order.
If you feel that your team does not respond, it may not be an attitude problem … but of space.
Because nobody gives their best when you feel guarded.
Because it is not leading with fear, it is leading with confidence.
And if it seems difficult … it is because it is.
But I assure you something: once you learn to lead from strategy, respect and agreement … There is no going back.
