The future Audi work team and its Formula 1 engine boss Adam Baker are going separate ways.

The Australian -born will leave the project in mutual agreement, the racing team said. Baker came to Audi in 2021 to develop the overall concept for the Formula 1 entry. The native of Aachen Christian Foyer is his successor.

“We thank Adam Baker for his commitment in recent years. He has decisively helped shape the overall strategic concept for the entry of Audi into Formula 1 and brought the development of the power unit in Neuburg,” said Audi boss Gernot Döllner. “With Christian Foyer, a proven expert in process structures in F1 drive development is now coming into the project.”

Binotto monitors engine and chassis

Audi’s Formula 1 project manager Mattia Binotto also gets more responsibilities. In the future, the former Ferrari team boss will also take care of development work at the locations in Hinwil, Neuburg an der Donau and the technology center in England, which is still under construction.

Audi starts in 2026 as a work team in the motorsport king class. This season the team is still called Kick Sauber, which was taken over by the Volkswagen subsidiary. The engine is built in Neuburg an der Donau, the chassis in turn in Hinwil in Switzerland.
