Eric dier was again a reliable support for FC Bayern this season. The former Bayern captain Stefan Effenberg is therefore sad that the paths separate in summer.
“It hurts within the team, it hurts the coach. I personally, because I would have liked to have seen it longer at Bayern Munich,” said FC Bayern club icon on Sunday in the “Doppelpass” at “Sport1”.
From Effenberg’s point of view, Eric Dier was always a “100 percent professional” in his time on Säbener Straße. “You never heard anything, he behaved totally professionally,” the former midfielder ordered. “And if you needed it, he was there.”
Dier had hardly played a role under Vincent Company for a long time. After the injury to Dayot Upamecano, he suddenly became important in the hot phase of the season.
Without a game practice, the Englishman rotated into the starting eleven and showed considerable performances at a top level. At FC Bayern, too, the value that the central defender has as a squad player was recognized.
Eric dier decides against FC Bayern
However, one has not been able to agree on an extension of the expiring contract in the past few weeks. On Friday, sports director Christoph Freund announced that the time together will end in summer.
“He informed us that he does not want to extend the contract. He will leave us at the end of the season, that’s a fact,” said Freund. “We would have been interested in the fact that Eric dier stayed,” said the Bayern official.
But the Englishman obviously had even more interesting options on the table. Allegedly, his future is now at the French top club as Monaco.
The time in Munich can still crown the championship – it would be his first title as a football professional.
