The Homicide group of the National Police has taken over the investigation into the fatal fall of the 20-year-old boy who died in the early hours of this Wednesday, as it has exclusively advanced Raise-EMVafter rushing from behind from more than three meters high and hit the head against the stairs of the pedestrian entrance to the parking lot of Bruges, in the square of the same name, next to the Central Market of Valencia. The event occurred at 1:45 p.m., when there were hundreds of young people partying, enjoying the mobile disco located next to the church of Santos Juanes.
Although all indications suggest that the boy, who was going to turn 21 in the spring, fell alone, without the intervention of anyone, hitting the stairs headfirst, the Valencian Police Headquarters has decided turn the case over to Homicide to investigate any possibility. In this sense, the agents will take statement both to the friend of the deceased who was with him at the time, like two other young men who were nearby of them and what they were witnesses much of what happened.
Likewise, they will search if there is any security camera in the area that could have recorded the moment in which the accident occurred or if there were any other witnesses.
They were talking
According to the first investigations, the friend of the deceased young man, who was very affected and could hardly speakdeclared that both were sitting on the wall for the closure of the pedestrian entrance to the car park, speakingwhen at a certain moment the boy fell backwards into the void. The friend ran down to see what had happened and, seeing that he was bleeding from the head and did not react, called 112 asking for urgent help.
The first to arrive were three agents of the Local Police of Valencia that they were patrolling that area on foot, precisely because of the existence of the mobile disco, which had brought together a large number of young people. Moments later a medical team arrived from the SAMU in an advanced life support (ALS) ambulance, which performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation to the boy for more than half an hourto no avail, so around 2:30 a.m. certified the death.
Hundreds of young people in the mobile disco in Bruges square at the time of the accident.
Meanwhile, agents of the National Police had to resort to the police intervention unit (UIP), the riot police, to be able to clear the area and draw a perimeter enough to allow the health workers and the Scientific Police to work, as well as the agents who interviewed the witnesses.
Once the police work ‘in situ’ has concluded, which in principle confirms the witnesses’ version, and the Investigating Judge number 1 of Valencia has arrived, on guard duty, together with the coroner, the magistrate authorized the removal of the body at around 4:00 a.m. and his transfer to the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) to perform an autopsy.
He hit the bottom step
From the first police investigations it appears that the boy was sitting on the parapet closest to the Central Market and that misfortune meant that, when he fell backwards from the top of the low wall, he fell on his head and hit himself against the edge of the last step the first flight of stairs, causing him to fracture his skull and almost instantaneous death.
According to the friend, both young had consumed alcohol, but not in a large amountso that It is not clear if this fact influenced in the fall or if the boy simply rushed into the lose balance.
