Celebrating freedom is a great asset, especially if you can do that at the Liberation Festival. Yet organizing this event is no longer self -evident. At least, with the current budgets.
The cabinet is therefore attracting the cut for structural help. “Very nice”, says director Sander ten Bosch of Liberation Festival Drenthe in the Radio Drenthe program Cassata.
After the coronation time, prices rose and Ten Bosch could not ignore it either. The figures in his budget turned out differently than he was used to. His conclusion: money has to be added to keep a free liberation festival in the feet.
The fourteen liberation festivals approached The Hague and saw the result yesterday. State Secretary Vincent Karremans (VVD) announced that it would financially support the festivals. This happens structurally and with a one -off contribution of 700,000 euros, which divide the fourteen organizers themselves. Ten Bosch calculates: “Such a half tonne for us. And that is certainly necessary if I look at the budget.”
This year, Ten Bosch works for Liberation Festival Drenthe with around half a million euros. “Seriously a lot of money,” he emphasizes. “That is also due to the extra program that we have around 80 years of freedom.” For example, there is more to do around the Baggelhuizerplas on 5 May. “Artists are important, but not the absolute main part.” We don’t have to be a music festival, “says Ten Bosch.
