Just before 6 pm a thick plume of smoke was shown on Vlaanderenlaan. When the fire was created, nobody was present on the site. The fire brigade of Westhoek pulled out with reinforcement and set up a tank truck circuit to supply sufficient extinguishing water.
“The flames were largely outside,” said officer Wim Top. “A gate, a room and the canopy suffered slight damage.” After half an hour the fire was under control.
