Walk: Zoetermeer in wartime
Walk along with Stadsgids Maarten Havinga on Saturday 3 May and discover what Zoetermeer looked like in the Second World War. During this walk you visit places that played an important role during occupation time. The walk starts at 2 p.m. at the HGOS at Dorpsstraat 132. From 1.45 pm there is a short introduction. Commemoration
The annual commemoration of the dead will take place in Zoetermeer on Sunday 4 May. Like every year, there is a quiet journey through the Dorpsstraat, followed by a memorial service at the war memorial in the Wilhelminapark.

Memorial shipping: 80 years of freedom
Sail on Sunday, May 4 with tour boat De Meervaarder and consider 80 years of freedom. During this trip you sail through the polder landscape and you pass historical places. The boat leaves at 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm from the quay at the ‘t Geertje farm. Afterwards you walk together to the memorial monument on the Geerweg, where you can lay flowers and stop at the victims of the war. De Vaart costs 10 euros and you get a ticket here.

Bicycle tour: The Jolly Duck
On Sunday 4 May, go on a bike ride past places that are connected to the Jolly Duck: an American plane that made an emergency landing at Zoetermeer in February 1945. Stadsgids Maarten Havinga takes you past locations full of stories, including the monument for the victims of the shooting on 26 February, killing five people.
The tour starts at 2 p.m. at the HGOS. Participating in the bike ride is free and register here.

Theater after Dam
