The Bruges department of the correctional court of West Flanders dealt with six criminal cases on Friday morning. In a scams, the OM demanded an effective imprisonment of 30 months in absentia. On the other hand, the attorney explicitly asked not to impose the mandatory fine by taking mitigating circumstances into account. “In view of the continuing contempt for the first and second power towards the third power, it is not up to me to continue the state treasury,” it sounded.
Also in three other files, the Public Prosecution Service explicitly asked not to impose the mandatory fine. The defendants are men who risk effective prison sentence for violence, bicycle theft or shoplifting for a year. It is now up to the judge to follow the striking claim of the attorney. The judgments will be pronounced on 6 June.
