Fan falls six meters deep from grandstand and hovers in mortal danger

There was a shocking incident in a baseball game in the USA. Now the police are investigating.

A baseball evening in the US city of Pittsburgh was overshadowed by a dramatic incident. During the seventh inn of the game between the Pirates and the Chicago Cubs, a spectator fell into the field in PNC Park about six meters deep from the grandstand.

As the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety announced, the man was taken to the hospital in a critical condition. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening and led to a brief interruption of the game, while rescue workers intervened on site.

According to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the viewer was immediately taken care of – both by the city’s emergency services as well as by sports trainers from both clubs and employees of the PNC Park. Afterwards the transport was made to Allegheny General Hospital.

The Pirates said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”
The Pittsburgh police have started the investigation. The department for violent crimes examines the incident.
