The house on the Volderhof in Helmond where a fire broke out on Wednesday morning has been declared uninhabitable. The municipality of Helmond confirms that. The mother and her son are still in the hospital and are given oxygen, says neighbor Pamela.

According to neighbor Pamela, who took the damage with it, the roof at the back of the house is destroyed and the kitchen wall is out. The sun protection and garden chairs that gave three meters from the house are completely melted by the devastating fire.

Neighbor Pamela recorded the damage on Wednesday afternoon together with the father of the family. “They can’t go home, but are taken care of by family members and can come to us,” says Pamela.

The neighbor, together with the father of the family, also visited the hospital. “Mother has third -degree burns on her shoulder, back and foot. She and her son still cough up smoke and get oxygen. They were approachable and stable, but should definitely stay in the hospital for another night,” says Pamela.

According to Pamela, the wife and her son were very lucky that they could quickly escape. “My neighbor was sick at home and woke up from the smoke detector. When she went down, the flames already hit the kitchen. She tried to extinguish the fire, but quickly went to their bedroom with her child to scream out of the window. If it had taken a little longer, they might not have been there anymore,” says Pamela emotionally.

Local residents caught up with the 2-year-old son when the mother stood in the window with him. The mother later managed to climb down the window through a ladder.
