Julian Gressel (31) leaves Inter Miami and switches to Minnesota United within the MLS. In the current third in the table of the Western Conference, the flexible midfielder signed a contract with the option for another season by the end of 2026. For the native German, it is the sixth stop in the North American league.
Gressel moved from Columbus Crew to Inter Miami in early 2024, where he was a supporting pillar for winning the Supporter ‘Shield on the side of the top stars such as Lionel Messi (37) or Luis Suárez (38). Gressel contributed a goal and nine templates in 32 mls games. In the system of new trainer Javier Mascherano, however, he got on the siding and no longer came to the train. Inter Miami therefore released Gressel for a change.
“I am very happy to be here at Minnesota United and integrate me into the team. I can’t wait to get started with the boys and continue the momentum that was created in the team,” said Gressel. Managing Director Khaled El-Ahmad added: “We welcome Julian and his family in Minnesota and are pleased that he joins our team. Julian brings an impressive abundance of MLS experience and championship experience to Minnesota. He is a proven winner and competitor. We hope that he will bring these qualities into our team and further forward during the rest of the season and beyond.”
