The descent of the Düsseldorfer eG from the German ice hockey league is finally perfect due to the rise of the Dresden Eislöwen.

The Saxons won the DEL2 playoff series against the Ravensburg TowerStars with a 2-1 in the decisive seventh final game and will start in the DEL for the first time in the coming season.

The decision was made only in the extension through a goal from Tomas Sykora. Bruno Riedl (22nd) had previously brought the Dresden lead, but Robbie Czarnik (56.) was still balanced for the hosts.

If Ravensburg had won the final series, the DEG, who had been in a sporty way, would have been saved. In contrast to Dresden, Ravensburg does not meet the economic requirements for the ascent.

DEG descends for the first time in terms of sport

For the eight -time master from Düsseldorf, it is the first sporty descent from the DEL. The traditional club had only announced on Friday that the coming two seasons – regardless of the league – had secured financially. For a long time there had been no plans for the DEL2 at DEG.

The two new managing directors Andreas Niederberger and Rick Amann will now have to put together a completely new team in the next four months and find a new coach.

Dresden is the first DEL promoter in three years. At that time the lions Frankfurt had been raised and the Krefeld penguins were relegated. Since then, the Düsseldorf local rival has been in vain for the return.
