As a player, he celebrated success with Düsseldorfer eG, after the active career he reached the highest office in German ice hockey. Now Rainer Gossmann has died. His ex-club announces details.
The Düsseldorfer eG mourns the loss of a formative personality of its club history. Rainer Gossmann, former goalkeeper and later president of the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB), died at the age of 83. The DEG announced on Tuesday, citing Gossmann’s direct environment. Accordingly, he died some time ago.
Gossmann was part of the DEG team who won the German championship in 1967. In the 1990s he took over the office of treasurer at the club. The DEG paid tribute to its commitment and explained that the success of the Rhinelanders would not have been possible without his participation. He was one of the “fathers” of the championships in the 1990s.
From 1995 to 2002, Gossmann led the German Ice Hockey Association as President. In 2002, he was sentenced to a two -year imprisonment for probation and a fines of 1.25 million euros for tax evasion in 38 cases.
