Singer Stien den Hollander, better known as S10, does not perform during the Liberation Festival in Assen. She has decided not to come because of private circumstances.
The other three performances that S10 would give on 5 May are canceled. This is the liberation festivals in The Hague, Amsterdam and Roermond. Together with Antoon, Rondé and Zoë Tauran from Roden, S10 is one of the ambassadors of freedom.
The National Committee 4 and 5 May are looking for “a suitable solution” now that S10 has canceled its arrival. “We think it is a great pity that S10 is not there, but have every understanding of its situation,” says a spokesperson for the committee to the ANP news agency. “We are now looking for a suitable solution for the four festivals with bookers. Because it is quite last minute, that is a big job.”
The committee cannot yet say whether there will be a replacement who goes through the country as an ambassador for freedom.
Sander ten Bosch, director of Libertingsfestival Drenthe, regrets the absence of S10. “It is terrible what happened to her. The cancellation is very unfortunate, it was a conscious choice to book her. We look together with the National Committee on which other options there are.”
That one of the other ambassadors of freedom comes to Assen is excluded. “They are already recorded and fly through the country by helicopter. But our search for a replacement has already started.” Later this week, Ten Bosch hopes to be able to bring out a new name.
Earlier, S10 already postponed shows because of the situation in its private sphere. The singer also dismissed a performance at Paaspop. De Telegraaf reported last week that a 24-year-old man from Hoorn was seriously injured after a fall of a flat in Amsterdam would be the twin brother of S10. The condition of the man is criticism.
The singer’s management previously announced that S10 does not comment on reports about the accident in which her twin brother would have been involved. The police also do not elaborate on this in “the importance of the current investigation”.
