Just one more point – Liverpool FC makes title races exciting

A few weeks ago, the title race in England seemed already decided. But Liverpool exploited some of the weaknesses of leaders Manchester City – and are now reaching for the top.

Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool have also won the eighth game in a row. The Reds won the Premier League catch-up game against Arsenal 2-0 on Wednesday. This puts Liverpool just one point behind leaders Manchester City. Since both teams meet in mid-April, the Klopp team still has every chance of winning the title.

That’s how the game went

Liverpool started the game well and got their first chance early on through van Dijk (2nd minute). But as a result, the “Reds” subsided, and the host became stronger. However, there were hardly any real top-class artists. Both defenses were solid and the game was goalless at half-time.

After the break, Liverpool became more dominant. Mané scored but was ruled offside (47′). Diogo Jota did better a few minutes later. After a dream pass from Thiago, the Portuguese shot the ball from a tight angle into the short corner. Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale didn’t look good (54′).

Eight minutes later, substitute Roberto Firmino made it 2-0. Arsenal were always dangerous in the person of Gabriel Martinelli, but a goal did not come out of it.
