Since his resignation, the New York Knicks have been waiting for the next title in the NBA. Now Dick Barnett has died at the age of 88.

The North American basketball league NBA has lost one of its formative personalities: Dick Barnett died at the age of 88. The left -hander led the New York Knicks in 1970 and 1973 to their only two championships so far.

“We are deeply sad about the death of the Knicks legend, Dr. Richard Barnett,” said the franchise. “During his glamorous career, Dick Barnett embodied everything it means to be a New York kink, both on and next to the square.”

Barnett began his career in 1959 when the Syracuse Nationals selected him in the finish. After stations at the Nationals, the Cleveland Pipers and the Los Angeles Lakers, he moved to New York in 1965. In nine seasons at the Knicks, he scored an average of 15.6 points per game. Already at college he won three championships with the Tennessee State University, in 2024 Barnett was recorded in the Basketball Ruhmeshalle, the Hall of Fame.

Barnett remains unforgettable for his unusual “Back, Baby” Jump shot. Since 1990, his jersey number 12 has no longer been awarded at the Knicks in his honor. After his career, he studied at Fordham University and completed a doctorate in educational sciences.
