Berlin (dpa-AfX)-The executive minister Boris Pistorius considers the proposals from US President Donald Trump to be largely too far. “Because what was there could have had Ukraine alone, a year ago, almost through a surrender,” said the SPD politician in the ARD program “Report from Berlin”.
Pistorius ensured further military aid in Germany, also in the event of an attitude in the United States. “If Ukraine falls when Putin wins this war in the sense of being occupied by Ukraine, if only in large parts, this is a maximum hazard for the NATO territory and, by the way, for neighboring countries such as Moldova and Georgia,” said Pistorius.
It must be clear to everyone: “This is not just about solidarity with Ukraine, it’s about our security and our peace in Europe.”
Ukraine knows – according to Pistorius – that there can be or will be “or will” or will “also be able to get there” in a sustainable, trustworthy ceasefire agreement or peace. It itself would not fix them at regional boundaries. Rather, these would have to be in a relationship with future security guarantees ./cn/dp/nas
