Princess Alexia gets criticism because she would not have looked cheerfully enough during her King’s Day performance in Doetinchem. “It seemed like she had her AirPods in!”
In recent years, Princess Alexia (19) has been fighting the image that she would be arrogant, or would certainly behave like that. She would be a bit of hautain, and also yesterday during King’s Day she got that criticism around her ears. Many viewers of the live report on NPO 1 shouted on social media as X that she would look too seriously.
Look
Hilmar Mulder, the editor -in -chief of the Libelle, finds it very common. “Again all that whining here about Alexia who doesn’t look ‘happy enough’. It’s so predictable. Men with a serious look are fine, women have to smile? Come on,” she writes on X.
It is incredible that people judge Alexia on this, she thinks. “She is a young woman with her own personality, not a set piece. Just let her be herself.”
Resting b*tch
How does quote journalist Martijn Zeven look at this? He says: “Alexia has a ‘resting b*tch face’, but she cannot do anything about it. Does not mean she doesn’t feel like it. So indeed: let her be herself.”
Royalty reporter Josine Droogendijk says: “I think this originated because she is very similar to Máxima in terms of looks, who always laughs. But if someone looks like someone else in appearance, that does not have to be the case in terms of character.”
Airpods
Show expert Bart Ettekoven can agree with the criticism. If he’s in the Shownieuws From yesterday a smiling photo of Alexia sees, he says: “This is the only photo on which she really laughs.
Royalty fan Sandra Schuurhof on that: “No, that is not too bad. That is not true!”
Bart: “I had a kind of feeling as if she was just listening with her airpods in a podcast. She was there, but she wasn’t there.”
Selfies
It’s just getting used to Alexia, says Sandra. “Hahahaha. No! She did have to take hundreds of selfies with all people on the side. No, I thought she was doing that very much.”
Bart: “She just feels very uncomfortable that all those people want something from her or something.”
Princess AirPod leads a relatively normal student life, Sandra explains. “She studies in London and then you are completely in your own bubble. Then you suddenly come across for a day or two days and then you are suddenly a kind of pop star, that you think: oh my god, what do all those people have to do?”
